W.R. Meyers Co

Our Team: Past, Present, and Future

Throughout the years the W.R. Meyers Co has above all valued its team. We seek out team members with specialty skills and advanced knowledge of fabrication and execution. Teamwork is key with the high-risk work that we do, so we like to think of the crew as family and take care of them as such.

W.R. “Bill” Meyers

President

How we got our start:

A tree climber and sky diver, work on high buildings and towers was a natural fit for Bill. In 1972, he was introduced to towers through his work with Bob Hinkel and Gary Sloan and the business quickly took off. In 1974, after a huge outbreak of 149 tornados, Bill landed a project restoring and rebuilding towers in the Zenia, Ohio area, establishing the company’s reputation in tower service work. At the same time, the team was restoring the Bowling Green Ohio downtown. Over three years the team restored over 29 buildings, including a few churches, revitalizing and restoring the town’s center.

Growing a business and broadening capabilities:

With a solid foundation in historic renovation and tower work, the company began to broaden their capabilities in industrial buildings and structures, working in factories and on emergency siren systems.

Working with mentors has been key in how Bill has developed new specializations. Some of these key mentors include Ed Wilcox - a steel stacks, tanks and refineries specialist, Morey Gabel - a renown steeplejack, and Ron Smith - an incredibly clever welder, machinist and millwright.

Bill has shaped and tended to W.R. Meyers Company with passion and perseverance. He takes on any project that feels like a challenge and approaches each undertaking with immense energy, creativity and dedication.

Adventure and family:

Beyond his work with W.R. Meyers Co, Bill has four cool kids that love to work with the company. He currently lives part time on Maui with his wonderful partner Mary and enjoys adventures like kayaking with whales, snorkeling on the best reefs and cruising to the tops of Hawaiian mountains to fix towers and also to enjoy the view.

“I enjoy the work for the challenges, difficulties and variety of the work we do. As a company we excel in areas that other companies are just not willing to go”
